however, I believe that this decision is totally absurd and we all should oppose developers ... we can not work completely for free ... enough to adjust the ads: example not more than one notification per day or every 2 days ... google should get even in our shoes ... I think this would be a good compromise ....

When I sent my email to google about this issue I mentioned the same thing like you said sebastian > One ad notification per day or one ad every 2 days will be good...lets hope for a miracle.
For the moment entry/exit ads are the only solution

I think I figured it out:

Leadbolt (not sure about any other network) offers an ad unit called an "In app alert". Its basically a notification that pops up within the app to display ads. Taking from what sebastian said: "A live wallpaper is just an app that is open constantly", so this means that live wallpapers can send in app alerts directly to the homescreen of a device whenever it wants to. This might just be the replacement for push notifications, at least, it sounds like the only remaining option. Though it does sound easy to over do, so tread lightly. I'll post more information when i learn it.

In app alert looks like entry exit ad, the user gets a notification only inside of the app, when user opens live wallpaper or closes it.

My leadbolt account manager offers me Interstitial ad, it is something like In app alert.
If someone knows how to implement In app alert or Interstitial or any ad unit like this please give us some informations.

Right?! Just when I had good user numbers and a good stable source of income this shit happens. One step forward two steps back. But its not just two steps back, its way bigger then that. This is industry ending type stuff. Leadbolt, start-app, etc, who knows if they will survive this.

Im suggestin to all members of LWC to submit a complain about new google program policy. My propose was to use notifications once a day or less.

Today google play developer support email me back

    Hi Fatos,
Thank you for your note. We appreciate the question regarding Google Play Policies and Guidelines. At this time, we are unable to comment on the compliance of your planned implementation. We encourage you to use the following guidelines and policies when uploading a new version:
    Google Play Developer Program Policy:
    http://play.google.com/about/developer-content-policy.html
Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement (DDA):
    http://play.google.com/about/developer-distribution-agreement.html
We wish we could provide more guidance regarding our policies.
    Regards,
    The Google Play Team

@stollo770 same thing with me,I had created good incomes and now it will be hard to believe that we can get same revenue any more or even half of them. But surrender is not the solution. We should adapt somehow whith new plolicies and do the best we can

I don't know what google was thinking, but I think it was a bad move on their end less developers would want to develop for a platform that offers less ways of gaining income. I'm thinking of implementing interstitial ads into the preferences of my live wallpapers but, I don't know how to code very well sooo.. yeah.

Yup. Google is going to get hurt on this as much as the developers will. I get eliminating icon ads and other super intrusive stuff but not notifications. Notifications are great; they don't hurt the experience of the app they come from, they don't hurt the phone, and users can ignore and clear them very easily. Its as simple as swiping down on your screen and clicking clear to get rid of a notification ad. The user doesn't even have to open it, and the developers still get paid. Its a win, win. I just don't get the reasoning for removing them.

My advice is to wait for Vas and friends to come up with new tutorials for other ad types. In the mean time shop around for other ad networks that offer different ad products and choose the one thats best for you. I'm leaning towards "in app ads" and "entry/exit" ads. I like the prospect of "in app ads" because I can control how many ads a user gets, and since a live wallpaper is just an app that's open forever, I might still be able to get as much/close to as much views and ecpm compared to notifications.

I don't plan on doing anything to my apps until the 16th of September. That will give me ample time to see how this all plays out with google, it will give time for new tutorials to pop up, it will give time for me to learn to implement new ad types should tutorials still be unavailable, and it will also give me time to squeeze the last bit of earning potential out of my notification ads. I'm still hoping that google back pedals on the notifications given the uproar from the android dev community, but prospects for that are low.

You make a good point and give some great advice. I'll take what you say into consideration and start looking for new advertising companies. I plan on doing the same waiting nearly the last day and then taking off my ad notification code but I know why google took the notification ads down, because some developers love to SPAM it hardcore like 10 notifications a day or w.e, when I do a mere 2 every 12 hours... so for the ones who play fair this really sucks for.

Yes of course we are victims of craizy spamers who like to spam every 10 mins, this is madness.
For my self Im planning to take off my ad notifications on September 17 or 18. Im gonna enjoy another few glory days with notifications

I want to add, that it's better to wait for the new SDKs to come out before diving into implementations of new ad units. There is a chance it will change once the updated SDKs are released. This means you would have to update everything again. However, there is one thing that you may find useful regardless of the SDK - a splash activity. If you don't already have one, you'll be interested in learning how to put that in. I'll teach you how to add a basic one. You can then modify its design as you please :)

I advice you to wait before updating your apps, let's wait for Leadbolt, Startapp and Airpush to unveil their new sdk with different ad units to see what will be best for us. As for right now keep your apps active as you still profit from notification and icon ads.

Be patient guys, the change is still too recent, don't jump on anything just yet, if you want, keep making live wallpapers but wait before publishing them, we have about three more weeks.
