I use Photoshop and Illustrator, primarily. Sometimes Paint.NET. It has better rulers :D

I've never used Photoscape before. I've just downloaded it so I'll try that out.

I played with a lot of software in the past. Long ago I used Paint Shop Pro 7 as a cheaper alternative to Adobe products and it was great. Also tried "chat" type programs like Open Canvas and oekaki boards... if anyone knows what that is.

Nowadays I use a program called Paint Tool SAI for digital painting. It's become a pretty popular choice amongst artists these days. The blending is very nice and smooth, but it's not really for photo editing. D: I also use Illustrator for vector stuff and Photoshop for touch ups and everything else (photo manipulation, raster graphics etc. since it's so versatile).
